Have you guys ever looked into buying wholesale products or dropshipping as a way to make money on eBay? I can tell you from personal experience that it is not only possible, but can be a good way to make money. But there are some things you need to watch out for.
There are a lot of scam artists out there who claim to be wholesale suppliers. But in fact, they’re really not a great deal, and in some cases they’ll charge you a fee to “join” their site to buy stuff from them.
I wonder where they’re really making their money…
I came across a good post today on the Latino Internet Marketing blog, about how to buy wholesale products. It has eight good tips for avoiding the scams when buying wholesale.
Two of the tips hit home for me, taking me back to my early days of trying to find wholesale sources:
- Be wary of wholesale suppliers that charge a fee to see their prices
- Don’t bother trying to find low priced video game consoles, designer clothes, iPodsĀ and other popular stuff – it’s just not available to small sellers.
Another post from the Big Box Store blog (love the name!) talks about finding a cheap wholesale supplier in China. You can buy almost anything direct from the factory in China, as long as you order enough to make it worth their while.
As the Big Box Store article points out, it’s important to do your research here since you can’t just report them to the Better Business Bureau if the deal doesn’t work out.
